Denison School Board elects new leadership, discusses Broadway

The Denison Community School District Board of Education unanimously elected a new president and vice president on Tuesday.

The board elected Derek Lambert as President and Louis Scheuring as Vice President after Kris Rowedder nominated each of them. They re-elected Lori Promes as secretary and Jeff Petersen as treasurer. The board also approved the treasurer’s report and district depositories along with re-appointing Ahlers and Cooney as district legal counsel.

The board discussed future Broadway Elementary School renovations as well. The DLR Group presented a project with an estimated cost of almost $18 million during a Zoom call that lasted about half an hour. The latest designs featured a brand new gym, commons area, and more attached to the south side of the existing school. They also included driveway loops on Broadway and South 16th Street, a possible staff parking lot in place of the old gym building, and some other changes inside the main building. The timeline they shared could have construction start in spring 2023 and finish for the second semester in 2025.
