Adam Burns Encouraged Everyone to Always Compete

Adam Burns Encouraged Everyone to Always Compete

Adam Burns, a Denison High School math instructor and coach for a variety of high school and youth sports teams, passed away Friday morning at age 35.

Burns was originally diagnosed with glioblastoma in his brain in the spring of 2021. KDSN spoke with Denison High School Activities Director Derek Fink about how Burns continued to have a positive impact in his community until the end.

"Day in and day out a servant leader and the passion that he had for kids and this school is just something that was special. You want your sons to be like him and your daughters to grow up and marry people that are like him," said Fink. "Times are going to be tough without him but, at the same time, you know from the messages he's always relayed to us and our kids he's going to be there right with us every step of the way. Now more than ever."

Family friends and supporters are thanking everyone for all of the love and prayers already given. They are asking that people continue to pray for the entire Burns and Sponder families along with everyone else affected by the loss. They also want people to “always continue to be #ADAMSTRONG & #COMPETE.”
