Harlan Teacher Associate Arrested After Dismissal
A former Harlan Community School District high school teacher associate was arrested in late November on several charges. Ashley Joe Cibic, 35, of Harlan is facing counts including controlled substance violation, unlawful possession of prescription drugs, child endangerment, and sexual exploitation by a school employee.
She was also arrested on September 18 by deputies in Shelby County on two counts of supplying alcohol to persons under the legal age. The district says they placed her on administrative leave on September 16 and terminated her employment four days later.
Cibic allegedly had sexual relations with a male student while he was still at Harlan Community High School, according to a report from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office. Photos observed by police on Cibic’s phone showed the student and Cibic in bed together on July 17 and July 31.
Cibic is currently out on bond.
