Auburn Woman Dies After Head-On Collision North of Carroll
An Auburn woman died Thursday morning after a head-on collision between an SUV and semi just north of Carroll.
The Iowa State Patrol is reporting the accident happened just before 6 a.m. near the intersection of U.S. Highway 71 and 150th Street. The initial investigation shows 26-year-old Lorraine Haley Wuebker of Auburn was traveling southbound on the highway in a 2007 Chevrolet Equinox. She reportedly crossed the centerline into the path of a northbound 2022 International driven by 64-year-old Edward Peterson of Sioux Falls, S.D. The SUV came to rest in the west ditch with the semi going into the east ditch. Authorities say Wuebker was pronounced dead at the scene. They also say weather and road conditions may have contributed to the crash and their investigation into the crash is ongoing.
