LULAC Hosting 2nd Annual Las Pasadas on Saturday
LULAC Denison is hosting the second annual Las Pasadas on Saturday at the Norelius Community Library.
Alma Puga says it’s a Christmas celebration that traditionally happens in Mexico and other Latin American countries.
“Not only Christmas but also how during Jesus’ birth they were struggling to find a place that would let them in. It doesn’t have to be religious or anything but it’s like a cultural thing. We’ll have food. We’ll have activities for the kids. We’ll have pinatas. We will even have the mariachi group from Denison,” said Puga.
She says they held the open house event at the LULAC office last year and it was pretty much standing-room only.
“We were able to fill in 40-50 people in there. It was great time but we realized this year we don’t want to struggle with capacity because now we have youth involved as well so we’re hoping to get more people this year,” said Puga.
Las Pasadas is set for a 6:30 p.m. start on Saturday, December 17 at the library.
