Denison Working to Replace Signals at Highway 30 and 20th Street

Denison Working to Replace Signals at Highway 30 and 20th Street

Denison is still looking to replace the traffic lights at the Highway 30 intersection with 20th Street.

Mayor Pam Soseman says the city needs the proper parts to upgrade the signals that are flashing red or yellow.

“Government is slow. Parts are slow right now. We’re ordering pickups and cars a year or two in advance before we even get those. So it is coming. We just need to practice our patience,” said Soseman.

She says Denison PD recommended they keep lights at the east end of town instead of converting to stop signs after studying the traffic there.

“The concern was we’ve got a little bit of hill coming in from the east and people wouldn’t necessarily slow down at that intersection if there wasn’t a traffic light there,” said Soseman.

She says the repairs will be made as soon as possible.
