City of Denison Using Odd/Even Snow Removal Parking
A snow emergency is in place after four inches of snow fell in Denison on Wednesday night.
Public Works Director Eric Martens says the updated snow removal policy lists even/odd parking for arterial and side streets.
“If you live in an odd-numbered house and the calendar day is an odd number like today is the 19th you will park on the odd side of the street. If you live on the even side with tomorrow being the 20th all cars need to move to the even side. That will allow us to make a pass down each side of the street to hopefully make is safer for everybody,” said Martens.
He says 4 a.m. is the deadline for moving your vehicle to the correct side of the street until the snow is cleared for this storm. The odd sides are mostly to the south and west with the even sides being north and east. Martens also says all vehicles must be moved from city snow routes and parking spaces by 2 a.m. Friday during the snow emergency.
“Because otherwise we have some parts of town that do not get plowed just because the cars are always in these areas. If we can’t get up next to the curb there’s nothing we can do. Snow laying on the street makes slick spots and quite frankly if we get enough snow and we keep plowing the ridges will get high enough that cars will get hung up, stuck, or damage them,” said Martens.
