Crawford Supervisors Discuss Latest Summit Pipeline Updates
Representatives of Summit Carbon Solutions updated the Crawford County Board of Supervisors about the proposed carbon pipeline project at this week’s meeting.
Vice Chairman Jean Heiden says one thing she asked about is not getting direct updates about Summit’s potential plans as they change.
“First it was a pumping station than two valves then it was a booster station and then I was made aware it was announced in another county that they were potentially going to put a launching station. The head engineer looked and ‘Oh yeah it does look like there is going to maybe, possibly be one in Crawford County.’ Well, why didn’t you tell us that instead of me having to ask that?” Heiden says.
Heiden says the latest type of station is known as a “pig launcher” because of the squealing sound it makes while being tested.
“Imagine if you live in that neighborhood and oh gosh they’re testing the pipeline again. We don’t know. Nobody seems to know. How often do they test it? What is it going to sound like to the neighbors? What are the decibels? I just want to know the facts about what is going to happen in our county,” Heiden says.
She says Summit agreed to try to do a better job of letting everyone know about potential changes.
