17th Annual Scouting For Food Chili Supper Sunday in Denison
The Scouting For Food Chili Supper returns for a 17th year on Sunday, February 5.
Troy Gehlsen says Cub Scout Pack 49, Girl Scout Troop 274, and Boy Scout Troop 55 will help with the event from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Denison.
“It’s a great scouting event. It’s a way for all of them to get together and help out our community in a really good way and everybody likes to eat chili and socialize anyway especially when it’s cold out this time of year,” Gehlsen says.
He says the menu features red bean beef and white chicken chili along with a grilled cheese sandwich, dessert, and drink. Carryout will also be available.
“Everything we bring in whether it be cash or a non-perishable food item is donated to the Emergency Food Pantry at the United Methodist Church and the T.A.P. program in Denison. This is scouting’s way of trying to help with trying to feed people in the area when they need some help,” Gehlsen says.
People who are unable to attend can drop off donations at the church beginning at 11 a.m. Sunday as well.
