Winter Storm Advisory for Crawford County

The National Weather Service in Des Moines issued the advisory for noon Wednesday to six p.m. Thursday. Forecasters predict freezing rain, sleet, and snow accumulations of up to 4 inches. Ice accumulations of up to one-quarter of an inch, with winds gusting as high as 40 mph.

Emergency Management Coordinator Greg Miller says “You need to be careful obviously on the roads and also with electrical problems from the ice being on the lines. People need to be ready for possible power outages and possibly icy roads going home from work.”

Miller recommends staying tuned to the radio, the National Weather Service, and Iowa 511 for immediate road conditions. Miller added that if snow accumulations are more than two inches park vehicles in a driveway so snow plows may clear the roads.
