Junior Monarch Volleyball is in Full Swing

Sam Ellis says the youth volleyball camp began two weeks ago. It is for ages TK through 6th grade. Ellis says there are over 100 girls in the Junior Monarch Volleyball camp. Ellis says McKenzie Mich leads a group of volunteers for the first-year program.
"Kinda put our minds together and kinda developed this kind of league with three different age groups. We couldn't be more happy with the numbers.”
He says it is $25 to join. Registration is closed but he says they’d be willing to try to fit anyone from TK through 6th grade into the league. Ellis says volleyball is a major sport in the Midwest.
"They're learning from the ground up. So by the time they're in 7th and 8th grade, they'll be learning more. It'll be helping the coaches teach more about the advanced fundamentals and the basics.”
Ellis says this can help the girls get into schools like Nebraska that usually are in tournaments and the final four. It also can aid the girls in building friendships.
“This is a group of girls that maybe don't hang out. It helps them develop friendships and other things through sports…”
Ellis says he is very happy with the amount of support from the community.
"This is the first year we've done the program, I'm really excited with the amount of volunteers we have. It's just outstanding. I've been more than impressed with the help we've had."
