The Denison Aquatic Center’s Outdoor Pool Is Closed Until Further Notice
The Denison Parks & Rec announced that the Denison Aquatic Center’s outdoor pool is closed until further notice. There was a malfunction in the pump room that led to the untimely closure. Parks & Rec Director Brian Kempfert said it was an unforeseen incident that couldn’t have been planned for. “We had a plug in one of our pumps that let loose, and when it did it sent water over, and it hit the main circulation pump for the outdoor pool and kind of fried it. I don’t know what other words to use.” Kempfert said it is unfortunate because it is summer and people want to use the outdoor pool, and they want to provide that for people. He added he doesn’t know when it will be operational again, but they’re trying to get this resolved as quickly as possible. “We are exploring several different avenues. I’d say we’ve got a couple different people and companies we’ve contacted to try to locate a new pump and motor.” Kempfert said the indoor pool and sauna are still operational. Mini golf and volleyball will still be available for people to enjoy. The hot tub had some repairs done earlier this week and should be up and running relatively soon.
