Grow and Support Local Foods in Rural Communities Workshop this Monday in Harlan
HARLAN, IOWA – Southwest Iowans interested in increasing access to local foods in their towns are invited to a half-day workshop on local food resources, leadership, and community engagement. This free event is hosted by the Center for Rural Affairs and Golden Hills RC&D.
“Grow and Support Local Foods in Rural Communities” is scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 10, from noon to 5 p.m., at Milk and Honey, 919 Seventh St., in Harlan, Iowa.
“The workshop will feature interactive training activities, discussion, technical assistance, and brainstorming on how to design and implement local food initiatives in your own communities,” said Deborah Solie, project associate with the Center. “Our goal is to help community members build capacity and increase fresh, locally-grown foods in their towns.”
Space is limited; travel stipends are available for participants. Lunch will be provided by Milk and Honey.
