Arcadia Man Facing Theft Charges After Allegedly Stealing Cash from Lost Wallet at Walmart

Carroll, Iowa – March 6, 2025 – An Arcadia man has been summoned to appear in court after allegedly stealing cash from a wallet left behind at the Carroll Walmart Supercenter. Jayden Karl Barrick, 20, is facing third-degree theft charges after admitting to taking over $1,100 in cash from the wallet.

According to Carroll County District Court records, Carroll Police were called to the Walmart on February 25 following a report of a theft. The victim told officers that she accidentally left her wallet in a shopping cart when she returned it to an outdoor cart corral. The wallet contained over $1,000 in cash, as well as bank cards, credit cards, and identification documents.

Surveillance footage from the store showed Barrick, an employee at Walmart, removing the wallet from the cart. Police later interviewed Barrick at his home, where he confessed to taking the wallet, removing the cash, and discarding the wallet in a nearby ditch. The total amount of cash stolen was $1,109.

Barrick has been charged with third-degree theft, a serious misdemeanor, and has been ordered to appear in Carroll County Court on March 6. If convicted, he could face up to two years in prison and fines up to $8,540.
