Carroll Man Sentenced to an Additional Five Years After High-Speed Chase While on Parole

A Carroll man will serve an additional five years in prison following a high-speed chase last December while on parole. According to Carroll County District Court records, 30-year-old Tyler Scott Mattingly failed to stop for a Carroll County Sheriff’s Deputy on December 24, leading authorities on a pursuit northbound on Zephyr Avenue at speeds reaching 120 miles per hour.
The chase ended in Calhoun County, where a Sac County Sheriff’s K-9 unit alerted to Mattingly’s vehicle. A search revealed marijuana, baggies, a scale, and a cup containing a crystalline substance.
Mattingly later entered a plea agreement, admitting guilt to one count of eluding at 25 mph or more over the speed limit, a Class D felony. He was sentenced to an indeterminate prison term not to exceed five years, with credit for time already served.
At the time of the incident, Mattingly was on parole for a 2021 felony conviction of first-degree theft in Greene County, for which he had been sentenced to ten years in prison. The new sentence will be served consecutively to his existing term.
