Manning Invited to Apply for $1.75 Million Grant to Revitalize Park Neighborhood

Manning Invited to Apply for $1.75 Million Grant to Revitalize Park Neighborhood

The City of Manning has been selected by the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) as one of just three Iowa communities invited to apply for up to $1.75 million in grant funding through the federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. The funds would support Manning’s Park Neighborhood Revitalization Plan, a comprehensive initiative shaped by community input.

The proposed plan focuses on enhancing park amenities, improving pedestrian pathways, and rehabilitating housing in the area. These upgrades aim to provide better facilities and economic opportunities for low- and moderate-income residents.

The total estimated cost of the project exceeds $2.5 million, requiring more than $750,000 in local matching funds. As of April 15, over $425,000 has already been committed—$300,000 from the City Council and $125,000 from private donors, including a $50,000 pledge from United Bank of Iowa.

A public meeting is scheduled for May 6 at 5:30 p.m. at the Timmerman Shelter House, where city leaders will provide further details on the project and encourage additional support. Donations can be pledged over a four-year period, contingent upon grant approval.
