Carroll Family Leads Flood Relief Drive for Devastated Texas Communities

A Carroll couple is rallying the community this week to bring comfort and critical supplies to families in Texas after catastrophic flash flooding over the Fourth of July weekend. Summer and Ben Parrott sprang into action after learning the Guadalupe River near Kerrville surged more than 26 feet in less than an hour, claiming over 100 lives — including at least 28 children — and wiping out entire households.
With the help of local businesses and a trailer donated by Brady Brehmer, the Parrotts are organizing a community-wide donation drive. The trailer will rotate among several area locations now through the weekend, collecting everything from clothing to hygiene products — items essential to those who lost everything in the floodwaters.
“Our hearts just broke seeing the devastation,” Summer Parrott said. “We knew we had to do something. People have nothing left — not even a pair of shoes.”
Drop-off sites and times can be found on our website and will be announced across Carroll Broadcasting stations. Financial contributions are also welcome and can be arranged by contacting Summer at 712-790-2700.
The Parrotts say Carroll County has always shown up for those in need, and they’re confident this effort will be no different — no matter the distance. The family plans to leave for Texas early Sunday and deliver the donated goods directly to impacted communities on Monday.
