Dow City Man Pleads Guilty in Federal Court to Child Exploitation and Pornography Charges
SIOUX CITY, Iowa — A Crawford County man could face a lengthy federal prison sentence after pleading guilty this week to child sexual abuse-related charges.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Iowa, 42-year-old Bryce White of Dow City entered his guilty plea Wednesday at the federal courthouse in Sioux City. White pleaded guilty to two federal counts: sexual exploitation of a child and receipt of child pornography.
Prosecutors said White admitted that between August 2023 and August 2024, he used Snapchat while posing as a juvenile to coerce minor females into sending sexually explicit images and videos.
Authorities say the investigation began in September 2023 after the parents of a Michigan girl discovered inappropriate messages on their child’s phone. That investigation later led to the seizure and review of White’s electronic devices, where officials say more than 20,000 videos and images were uncovered, including material involving toddlers and depictions described as sadistic and masochistic conduct.
White’s sentencing will be scheduled after a presentence investigation report is completed. He could face up to 15 years in federal prison and fines totaling more than $500,000.
The case was prosecuted as part of the U.S. Department of Justice’s Project Safe Childhood, with assistance from the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, the Midland County (Michigan) Sheriff’s Office, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. White remains in custody of the U.S. Marshals Service while awaiting sentencing.
