Iowa House Passes Bill to Raise State Highway Speed Limit from 55 to 60 MPH
According to Iowa state representative Steve Holt, the Iowa House of Representatives has approved Senate File 378, a measure that would increase the speed limit on certain state highways to 60 miles per hour.
The measure now heads to the desk of Kim Reynolds for consideration. If signed into law, the updated speed limit would take effect July 1.
Supporters of the bill argue the change is a practical adjustment based on current driving patterns and infrastructure, while opponents have raised concerns about potential impacts on safety.
