Denison Police Report 3 Traffic Accidents, Arrest For Barred License

The Denison Police Department is reporting three traffic incidents from earlier this week.

Police say 33-year-old Rebecca Green of Dow City was traveling northbound on South 11th St at just after 4 p.m. on Tuesday. The 2014 Toyota Sienna driven by 73-year-old Denise Wieland of Denison merged into the same lane and hit the side of Green's 2010 Chrysler Town & Country. Wieland later said she did not see Green because of parked vehicles blocking her vision and decided to merge without looking. Damage estimates total $4,500 with that number including $3,000 for the Chrysler minivan. Both people were uninjured and drove their vehicles away from the accident scene.

A second report says officers discovered a 1999 Ford Ranger left unattended on the 1200 block of North 26th St at just before 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The owner, 25-year-old Garrett Kruger of Schleswig, stated that he left his truck running because it is a 6-speed and he did not want it to shut off. Kruger told authorities that he left his car on the curb and it rolled down the hill striking a light pole, multiple electrical boxes, and a legally-parked 2011 Ford F-150 on the 1100 block of North 26th. Kruger apologized for the incident saying he thought he left the tires of his truck on the curb. Damage estimates for the Ranger total $2,000 and private arrangements were made to move the disabled vehicle. The estimated damage cost to the F-150 is also $2,000 and it was left at the 1100 block address.

A third document states that police found a parked 2008 Chevrolet Silverado unattended at 2 a.m. Monday morning around the 1300 block of Bohnker Hill Rd. They described the truck as appearing to have sustained damage to the right side by an unknown second vehicle. The incident in question occurred overnight at an unknown time according to the report. The unidentified vehicle left white transfer paint on the black Chevy truck with an estimated cost of $2,500 to fix. Authorities says there are no suspects at this time.

Denison Poilice arrested Seiner Loarca Martin of Denison at just after 9 p.m. on Tuesday night at U.S. Highway 30 and 4th Avenue South. They charged the 22-year-old male for “driving while license status is barred.”
