Iowa baseball prepares for a return to Des Moines
For the second straight year, the Iowa Hawkeye baseball team will host a three-game nonconference series at Principal Park in Des Moines beginning Friday night against 10th-ranked Oregon State. Iowa coach Rick Heller says it won't happen again for at least two years. Next season, the Hawkeyes have their Big Ten bye week early in the season. Heller does not want to move any home Big Ten series out of Iowa City, so the opportunities to set up a series in Des Moines are limited. Like the Hawkeyes, the Beavers expect to play in an NCAA Regional. They enter the series with a record of 35-12. The Hawkeyes will close the regular season next week by hosting fifth-ranked Oregon and they will have a chance to win the Big Ten regular season title.
