Boys State Basketball Results 03-10-2022

Class 2A Semifinals

Central Lyon, Rock Rapids 57, Pella Christian 51
Central Lyon jumped out to a 21-13 lead after the first quarter and did enough to hold on the rest of the way. Cooper Spiess led the Lions with 15 points and 3 assists. Zach Lutmer added 10 points and everyone that got on the floor scored for Central Lyon. The Lions improved to 24-2 on the season. Pella Christian was led by 16 points from Levi Schelhaas and they end the season at 19-7.

Rock Valley 60, Monticello 44
Rock Valley led by 7 at half and used a 10 point advantage in the third to put the game away. Brys Van Grootheest led the Rockets once again with 17 points and 5 assists. Sam Remmerde added 14 and they improved to 21-5. Preston Ries led Monticello with 15 points and their season ends at 22-4.

Class 3A Semifinals

Dallas Center-Grimes 63, Winterset 46
-Dallas Center-Grimes used an 18-6 advantage in the third quarter to take control of the game. The Mustangs were led by 19 points from Jackson Jones and 13 points and 8 rebounds from Cole Glasgow. DC-G is now 21-5 on the season. Winterset was led by 17 points from Levi Gurwell. Their terrific season comes to an end with a record of 20-6.

Central DeWitt 70, Assumption, Davenport 46
-Central DeWitt took control early with a 17-4 advantage in the first quarter. Shawn Gilbert scored 32 points, grabbed 5 rebounds, and had 4 assists. Central DeWitt shot a sweltering 72% from the field and improved to 20-6. Assumption got 13 points from Noah Mack and ended their season at 20-6.

Class 4A Semifinals

Ames 62, Cedar Rapids, Kennedy 43
Trevion LeBeaux had 18 points and 7 rebounds as the Ames Little Cyclones earned their way to the title game. Tamin Lipsey added 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists. Ames had 42 points in the paint and improved to 22-3. Kennedy was led by 13 points from Jackson Bowman and their season ends with a 21-4 mark.

Johnston 61, Prairie, Cedar Rapids 57 (OT)
The Dragons escaped another close game with a win to make the championship game. Johnston made 5 of 6 free throws in the final 23 seconds of overtime to get the win. Masen Ryan’s three with 1:20 left tied it to send the game to overtime and he led the Dragons with 18 points. Trey Lewis added 17 points and 5 assists. Johnston improves to 21-3. Prairie was led by 14 points from Gabe Burkle, their season halts at 18-7.
