Harlan scored on a penalty kick following a handball in the box by a Lady Monarch defender

Harlan scored on a switch from near the right sideline to the back post 5 yards out with 9:19
remaining in the 1st half.
1) Alicia Lopez scored her 2nd goal of the season, assisted by Whitlee Auen (2nd assist of
season) on a 22 yard shot with 4:42 remaining in the 1st half. Auen received the ball
about 15 yards out and passed back to Lopez who hit the shot into the side net.
2) Whitlee Auen scored her 8th goal of the season, assisted by Bailey Gibbons (5th assist
of season) on a 33 yard shot with 34:56 remaining in the match. Gibbons received the
ball about 20 yards out and passed back to Auen who hit the shot just under the
crossbar.
Comments by Coach Eller: “Harlan dominated possession in the 1st half and they capitalized
on a couple of our mistakes to get a penalty kick and an unmarked switch leading to a goal. In
the 2nd half, we played some of our best soccer of the season. We maintained possession and
created some good scoring opportunities. Both of our goals were the result of maintaining
possession with good passing and spacing. We had a few really good chances but
unfortunately all our shots went to their keeper. Defensively, we didn’t make any mistakes to
give them any close shots. I could hear our team communicating and that is huge for us to
continue to get better”.
