Yesterday's area special elections get mixed results
-Several special elections across the listening area took place yesterday. The IKM-Manning special vote for a $19.2 million addition and upgrade to create a K-12 center in Manning appears to not pass as it got 54.9% of the vote and required a 60% +1 vote to pass. 1049 residents in the district voted in favor of the K-12 center and 859 voted against. Crawford, and the Shelby and Audubon combined votes were overwhelmingly no. Crawford County had a total of 421 votes against the addition and 150 that were in favor. The Shelby and Audubon County combined vote that took place in Irwin yielded 114 yes votes to 367 votes against. Carroll County was a very lopsided vote and made the vote much closer as 785 votes were for the addition and just 71 were against.
-The other nearby vote in the East Sac County School District asking voters to approve a Physical Plant and Equipment Levy to assist with updates and renovations as the district transitions from four sites to two, passed as 585 residents voted for the PPEL and 441 voted against, creating for a 57% vote when a 50% +1 vote was needed to pass. -There were two questions on the ballot for Carroll voters regarding a 13.38 million dollar renovation to the Carroll Rec Center. Public measure C, to Authorize continuation of Local Option Sales Tax until repeal for an estimated $7.6 to be used for project passed with a 52.7% vote with 914 in favor and 819 against. But Public measure D, for Approval for issuance of General Obligation Bonds not to exceed $5.9 million Failed at 45.7 % 793 voted Yes and 951 not in favor. 1752 ballots were cast and there was a 24 and a half percent voter turnout.
