CDC hosting November 1st candidate forum at Broadway
The Chamber and Development Council of Crawford County is hosting a public forum for local candidates on Tuesday, November 1st at Broadway Elementary. Executive Director Evan Blakley says this is a non-partisan public service by the Chamber.
“It’s a great way to get our candidates together in a room and invite the media and the public. We do solicit questions from the public. I will be moderating and choosing which questions are most relevant and appropriate. So we invite the public to come out,” said Blakley.
The agenda will include five candidates for the Crawford County Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees at 7:00 p.m. and up to four Board of Supervisors candidates at 7:30. The Iowa Senate discussion for District 6 starts at 8:00 p.m. and includes Jason Schultz, a Republican, as the incumbent with David M Davis, a Libertarian, as the challenger. Blakley says they have a successful formula for events like this.
“It’s not a debate like we see on TV sometimes where the candidates are aiming their barbs at one another and going back and forth and tearing each other down or challenging each other. This is simply a friendly format for our candidates to be able to share their positions directly to the public. We’ve had great success in the past with civil and informative conversation and that’s the way we like to run things,” said Blakley.
