Crawford County Not Quite Ready to Request City Center Bids
Crawford County is still deciding how to approach putting out a request for proposals to renovate the new Public Health building.
Chairman Ty Rosburg says the city center project is not moving as fast as they would like.
“Some things have just come up in your process of getting ready for moving in. It probably is taking a little bit longer due to some other projects that needed to be dealt with first. The consensus seems to be that we’re going to need to have a central figure that can basically coordinate everything. You don’t want the painters showing up before drywall,” Rosburg said.
The city center building used to be a Crawford County Memorial Hospital primary care clinic. Rosburg says a pipe burst during one of the recent cold snaps and revealed that more work may need to be done.
“Public Health talked to an agency out of Ames that tells you what you need to do. We didn’t think we needed to do quite so much that we wanted to spend a lot of money on that but after finding this window issue and stuff we may need to go at least explore that option,” Rosburg said.
He says how they move forward with this project is a key part of the overall budget process this year.
