Denison Man Gets 10-Year Prison Sentence On Federal Charges For Illegal Possession Of A Firearm By A Felon
(Carroll Broadcasting) A Denison man has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison following his conviction for illegal possession of a firearm by a felon. According to the U.S. Attorney General’s Office for the Northern District of Iowa, 34-year-old Kevin DeWolf was sentenced on Feb. 29 after pleading guilty last September to the felony weapons violation. Authorities say DeWolf also intentionally set a vehicle on fire in Crawford County following his indictment in an attempt to fraudulently collect insurance proceeds. Federal prosecutors note DeWolf also has a history of prior felony convictions, including possession of a controlled substance with intent to manufacture out of Crawford County District Court in July 2022. The case against DeWolf was brought as part of the U.S. Department of Justice’s Project Safe Neighborhoods, which involves multiple agencies that target the most pressing violent crime problems in communities. DeWolf will serve three years of supervised release after completing his prison term. There is no parole in the federal system.
