Schaller Woman Pleads Not Guilty in Violent Knife Attack Case

A Schaller woman accused of a brutal knife assault in September has entered a not-guilty plea to multiple felony charges, including attempted murder.
Court records from Sac County indicate that 35-year-old Jennifer Lynn Rathe was arrested following a violent incident that occurred around 3 a.m. on September 15 in Schaller. Investigators allege Rathe used a knife to cut a victim’s throat horizontally and then tried to stab the victim in the eye.
Rathe was taken into custody shortly after the incident and remains in jail on a $25,000 bond. She faces two serious charges: attempted murder, a Class B felony, and willful injury causing serious injury, a Class C felony.
A jury trial is set for December 9 at the Sac County Courthouse. If convicted on both counts, Rathe could face up to 35 years in prison and fines totaling more than $13,000.
